Niah Juella McLeod, Doonooch Mabra - Owl Eyes
16 October 2025 - 17 January 2026
The Arts d'Australie • Stéphane Jacob gallery is pleased to present ‘Doonooch Mabra – Owl Eyes | In the Wake of the Owl’, the first solo exhibition in France by Aboriginal artist Niah Juella McLeod, a rising star on the contemporary Australian art scene. Born in 1991 in New South Wales, Niah Juella McLeod belongs to the Yuin people on her father's side and to an Anglo-Celtic lineage on her mother's side. This dual heritage, both intimate and powerful, informs a body of work in which spirituality, memory and healing are woven together in a pictorial language deeply rooted in Aboriginal tradition, yet resolutely personal.
Each of McLeod's canvases is a cartography of the soul, a silent song carried by the presence of the Ninoxe owl, the artist's totem animal and guide. Pointillism, circular motifs and vibrant lines compose a meditative and organic universe, a true place of reconnection between the intimate and the ancestral.
The exhibition ‘Doonooch Mabra – Owl Eyes | In the Wake of the Owl’ offers a dive into this unique universe, where the works become spaces for dialogue, healing and transmission. It is a tribute to collective memory, to Mother Earth, to forgotten voices, carried by an artist whose artistic approach is also a gentle form of resistance.
