When she reconnected with her father's family, Niah received a multitude of books: collections of her father's poems, as well as texts on Aboriginal language, land, and traditions. These readings sparked reflection and gradually shaped her artistic voice. Since then, she has used her artistic practice to learn her languages and, in turn, teach them to her three young children.
Her paintings serve as memory aids for learning words in her language, but they also spark conversations with her children, who often come to see her when she is working on a canvas to ask her what she is painting. She takes advantage of these moments to learn with her children, consulting her books with them and learning the meaning of words together.
For her, passing on knowledge is a gentle, non-assertive act of sharing rather than a demand. She marvels at this convergence between personal life, art, and cultural heritage: "It's a bit surreal. When I say I'm ‘working,’ I'm actually learning about my culture... and passing it on to my children at the same time. I'm so lucky. It's a blessing."
