Gupu Dreaming, the “dream of water,” tells the story of water's journey across the earth. It evokes rain falling from the sky, rivers winding through the land, and the life it gives to everything around it. Birds follow the waters, fish move through them, and together they carry the spirit of renewal and connection between the earth and the sky.

Water is very important to Niah, and many of her personal stories take place near bodies of water. Whether it's her pregnant mother's walks along the shores of Swan Lake (Bherwherra), her birthplace near Jervis Bay, her childhood memories of fishing trips with her grandfather at Lake Jindabyne, or her childhood near the beautiful beaches of Byron Bay, water plays a central role.
