Stanley Nyayati Young was born in 1949 in the west of Irrunytju, a community in Western Australia. He grew up in the bush with his family, with whom he travelled extensively as a child. Stanley Nyayati Young then returned to Pipalyatjara where he settled with his family. Like most Aboriginal artists, Stanley Nyayati Young uses the ‘dot painting’ technique, inspired by the floor paintings traditionally produced for ritual ceremonies.
