Biography

Selina Fisher Napanganka is from Yuendumu, an isolated Aboriginal community 290 km north-west of Alice Springs in Australia's Northern Territory. She has three sisters and two brothers. Selina is the granddaughter of the late Topsy Fisher Napurrurla, a well-known artist in the community.

Selina Fisher Napanganka went to school in Yuendumu, before attending an Aboriginal boarding school in Alice Springs, where she graduated. On leaving school, she moved to Nyirripi, where she worked in the local shop. She is married to Lance Turner and has three children.

She joined the art centre in 2006 and says that when she was a child she used to sit and watch her grandmother paint and she would tell her many stories. Selina Fisher Napanganka now paints her father's Pikilyi Jukurrpa (dream of Vaughan Springs) and Karnta Jukurrpa (dream of women).
