Yuyuya, sister of the famous painter Ronnie Tjampitjinpa, began painting for Papunya Tula Artists in 1996. Like her brother, she is the principal custodian of a vast territory including Pirrilyi, Wana Yunta, Watanuma, Tjalingka, Kunyukutu and the associated Dreamings, Ngalu, Kapi Tjukuntja, Minma (Women), Mangarri (Bush Food), Wirrinywirrinypa (Fruit), Kampurarrpa (Bush Grapes) and Unala (Banana Tree Root), to name but a few. These sites and Dreamtime stories are central to Yuyuya's work.

Yuyuya Nampitjinpa's work is characterized by the use of complex symbolic language rooted in ancient cultural tradition. The artist's skillful use of color, movement, and negative space makes her interpretations of these symbols strikingly contemporary.
