With this painting the artist celebrates the sacred water hole of Ngaminya, located in the southwest of the community of Kiwirrkura. Legend has it that Great Ancestors women stopped in and picked wild grapes, or “kampurrarpa”.
The “U” shapes represent these ancestors, but also women who still celebrate ceremonies to honour them. The concentric circles symbolize water holes and the short radiant lines connecting them are the paths traveled by the Ancestors.
