Lorrkon are funerary trunks used to collect the bones of a deceased person removed from the grave in which they were originally buried. During this ceremony, which marks the end of the mourning period, the unearthed remains of the dead are painted with natural pigments - often red ochre, the colour of mourning - and slipped into a eucalyptus trunk hollowed out by termites, which serves as an urn. The hollow log is decorated with ritual motifs representing fish pots. This funerary post is particularly unusual, as the artist has moved away from very colourful motifs to give us a magnificent monochrome.
