Ursula Hudson presents in these paintings a version of the Pikilyi Dreaming, a sacred site where a waterhole and a creek are located, not far from Yuendumu. According to the legend, a pair of Rainbow Serpents lived there.
Women would come to remove the lice attached to the bodies of these mythical beings who, in return, granted them the right to draw water from the creek.
To this day, Aboriginal people still hold ceremonies at this place where the spirit of the two serpents continues to reside.
In the painting, the wavy lines represent the water flowing in the river, while the black teardrop shapes most likely symbolise the lice clinging to the serpents.
