The ‘Negative Space’ series is an in-depth exploration of Konstantina's Aboriginal identity, constituted and characterised by absence rather than presence.
The paintings in this series consist of diptychs. In the manner of a Chinese shadow, the plant silhouette of the species represented is embodied by an assembly of finely applied dots, or withdrawn from its environment, leaving behind the imprint of its absence revealed by its outline of dots.
The name of the work translates as ‘Eucalyptus Leaves’.
