In this painting, the artist tells the Jukurrpa (Dreaming) of the Pirlarla Jukurrpa (Dogwood Tree seeds, or Wakirlpirri), connected to a site near Mount Yiningnarra, several hundred kilometres northwest of Yuendumu.
According to the ancestral story, a group of women travelling across the desert stopped at this site to collect Wakirlpirri seeds. These seeds are highly valued by Aboriginal people, who grind them before eating them raw or cooked. When crushed, they can also be used to prepare a sweet drink.
