Shanna Williams Napanangka illustrates in this painting both the “Seven Sisters Dreaming” (Napaljarri-Warnu Jukurrpa) and the “Star Dreaming” (Yanjirlpirri Jukurrpa).

The “Seven Sisters Dreaming” corresponds, for the Aboriginal people, to the seven stars of the Taurus constellation, also known as the Pleiades. These seven stars personify seven ancestral sisters of the Napaljarri clan. An individual of the Jakamarra group, Jukurra-Jukurra, symbolised by the Morning Star, is in love with them and is usually painted as pursuing them across the sky. In order to escape this man, the Seven Sisters turned into flames and rose into the heavens to become stars.
