Paintings of the Magardi Jukurrpa, also known as Hair String Belt or Tassle Dreaming, depict the traditional ceremonial belt.

The Magardi is a belt made from Purdurru (spun hair or fur) worn during ceremonies. Human hair, and sometimes the fur of wallabies or possums, is wound around the thigh and spun using a Wirinkirri (stick spindle). The resulting cord is then incorporated into a skirt worn by men or women while dancing during ceremonies.

At the time of the Jukurrpa, Napangardi and Napanangka women lived at Mina Mina, a site of great religious significance located far west of Yuendumu in Central Australia. They would travel across their land performing ceremonies and dances while wearing their Magardi.

This Dreaming is specifically associated with women of the Napangardi and Napanangka subsections, as well as men of the Japangardi and Japanangka subsections.
