Marshella Nanguwerr is originally from Maningrida. Her father, Charlie Nanguwerr Nangukwirrk, trained her in sculpture and painting. She depicts Mimih spirits, who belong to the Aboriginal mythology of Arnhem Land and are believed to live in the caves and rock crevices of this maritime region.
