Originally from Rocky Point near Numbulwar, Janette Murrungun has spent most of her life in this region. She is the daughter of Mawungumain Nundhirribala, from whom she learned traditional weaving techniques. An accomplished artist, she works with both pandanus and ghost nets, and possesses extensive knowledge of plant harvesting, fiber preparation, natural dyeing, and traditional weaving practices.
Janette Murrungun works at the Numbulwar Numburindi Arts Centre. She actively contributes to the transmission of cultural knowledge and artistic skills to new generations, while also supporting the centre’s outreach and its role within the community.
