Vanetta Hudson Nampijinpa depicts in this painting a legend connected to the Warlukurlangu territory, southwest of Yuendumu. A Blue-tongue Lizard old man lived on a hill with his two sons. He pretended to be blind and sent the boys out to hunt in his place, while he hunted himself and ate all the meat before his children returned. One day, they came back having killed a kangaroo, which was sacred. Furious, the old man decided to punish them. On a hunting trip, he set fire to the bush. This massive blaze, chasing after them, forced them to run for several kilometers until a flame erupting from the Blue-tongue Lizard’s burrow overcame them.
