The young community of Martumili is made up of artists from Western Australia, most of whom came into contact with Europeans only in the 1960s. This is the case of Bugai Whyoulter who lived a long nomadic life along the Canning Stock Route, a mythical road that stretches for 2000 km. She crossed "white" shepherds but also Aborigines employed by thosehere for their erudite knowledge of this arid environment and its rare reserves of natural water.

His style is inspired by that of the Martu people, which stems from an ancestral custom of tracing mythical roads in the sand with the fingers in order to tell sacred stories.
