Born in Pakistan to Australian parents, G.W. BOT lived in several countries before settling in Canberra in 1985, where she developed a strong attachment to her homeland. Inspired by the Aborigines, she adopted the wombat as her totem, in reference to a local animal. Linocut, discovered in London, remains her favourite technique. Her work combines a dreamlike vision of the land with a deep sensitivity. In Totem du Désert, she depicts an austere totemic figure, evoking the heat of the desert and her own destiny.
