Wilma Tabacco is a Western artist who was born in Italy but came to Australia at a very young age. In her work, she strives to express in an abstract way the vibrations of Australian water, earth and air, which seem, as here, to mingle, producing iridescent effects reminiscent of the Japanese folds that the artist greatly appreciates. From these extremely fluid lines, other lines emerge and are superimposed, like ghosts, as if to give us a glimpse of the continent's “fifth dimension”.
