Like most Utopia artists of that era, Lucky Morton Kngwarreye experimented with many art forms. Lucky participated in batik workshops held in Utopia between 1977 and 1987. This batik movement brought attention to the artistic dynamism of the desert community through the 1988 exhibition Utopia: A Picture Story. She painted on canvas for the first time during the summer of 1988-1989, as part of CAAMA's A Summer Project exhibition, and has been painting ever since. Lucky also briefly tried her hand at wood carving.

Her preferred subjects are Ilyarnayt (acacia flower), Country, Awelye (women's ceremony), Alpite (wildflowers), Tharrkarr (honey grevillea), Rainbow Dreaming, Camp Scene, Yerrampe (honey ant) Dreaming.

Lucky has participated in numerous group exhibitions since the beginning of her artistic career in 1977. Her works are part of the Holmes à Court collection, which has been exhibited extensively in Australia and overseas.
