Morris Gibson, son of Ningura Napurrula, belonged to the ethnic group of the Pintupi whose artists stage sites related to the stories of the Tingari Men. These Great Ancestors, who appeared in the early days of the creation of the aboriginal world, have a reputation for travelling across the Australian continent with their wives and young apprentices whom they were responsible for introducing. At each of their steps in the desert, they created a sacred site around a water point like here the source of Kaakuratintja, west of Lake MacDonald.
In keeping with the tradition of painting on the ground, Morris Gibson offers an abstract satellite view of Kaakuratintja: the multiple squares tend to represent all the sites that dot the desert.
