Born in Pakistan to Australian parents, G.W. BOT lived in many countries until the age of twenty, following her father, who was in the military. She studied art in London, Paris, and Australia. Living and working in Canberra since 1985, she has developed a strong attachment to her land, which has become the main theme of her work.

With this watercolor, GW Bot expresses the intimate relationship she has with the Australian nature: for her, it is a place of contemplation, meditation, and invocation - invocations of the earth as humans experience it, destroy it, yet continue to pray to it.
