Born in Great Britain, Alastair McNaughton studied art before embarking on a career as an illustrator. Passionate about photography, he then decided to travel the world with his camera. After Africa and India, he arrived in Australia and lived for two years in the community of Coonana (Western Australia), where he took photographs illustrating scenes of daily life and the characteristic landscapes of Coonana.
He has since settled in Sydney and also pays tribute to this city with photographs of iconic buildings and structures, such as the saltwater swimming pool “Andrew Boy Charlton Pool,” originally called “Robinson's Hot and Cold Baths” and built in the 1830s-1840s.
The first sporting competitions were held there in 1846. Since 1968, it has borne the name of this Australian swimming hero, world champion, Olympic champion, and world record holder in 1924.
