Sonia Kurarra is a Walmajarri woman whose community lies to the north-west of the remote Great Sandy Desert.

Her people's territory contains many rivers whose morphology changes between the dry and rainy seasons. As a result, the rocks found inside these rivers seem to resurface in the dry season, creating vibratory waves around them, as illustrated by this work.
