Djambawa is the embodiment of the contemporary Aboriginal political leader who has used his art for decades to promote recognition of his territorial rights before the Australian Parliament and illustrate the millennia-old culture of his people.
In the lower part of this print, he depicts the traditional method of hunting dugongs (a type of manatee) using a canoe, while the upper part shows the contribution of progress with the use of a motorized boat.
