Louanne Williams Napangardi is part of one of the best known artistic communities in the central Australian desert, Yuendumu, where contemporary Aboriginal painting appeared in the 1970s at the same time as Papunya. This is the dream (Jukurrpa) of the Native Seed, or seed (Ngurlu). This edible seed comes from the Lukarrara, a herb that grows in the Central Desert. The Aborigines crush these seeds on a large stone to obtain flour which, mixed with water and then cooked, is used to make buns represented by concentric squares that seem to multiply infinitely.
