Danielle Collins Napaltjarri, from Yuendumu in the Central Desert, depicts the Dreaming (Jukurrpa) of Water (Ngapa) associated with the sacred site of Puyurru, located west of her community.
As this Dreaming holds sacred significance, the version shared with the public is that taught to children. This story combines multiple Dreaming tracks that intertwine during the journeys of different Ancestors. The narrative begins with two rainmakers from the Jangala family, who called the rain through their songs, triggering a powerful storm that moved across their clan territory, accompanied by the thunderous sounds of lightning.
The concentric circle is a symbol used by Central Desert Aboriginal people for millennia to represent sacred sites, as it does here for Puyurru.
