Trevina Gibson Nakamarra, from Yuendumu in the Central Desert, depicts here the Water Dream (Ngapa Jukurrpa) associated with the sacred site of Puyurru, located to the west of her community.

As this Dream holds sacred significance, the artists only share the version taught to children. The version presented here intertwines multiple dreams, or dream tracks, traversed during the journeys of various ancestors. The story depicted on this painting begins with two rainmakers from the Jangala family who, through their chants, called forth rain and triggered a massive storm. The storm then moved across their clan territory with a thunderous roar produced by lightning.

The concentric circle is a symbol used for millennia by the Aboriginal peoples of the Central Desert. It represents sacred sites, such as Puyurru in this case.
