Valma White Nakamarra illustrates in this painting the Dreaming of the Seven Sisters, who are embodied by seven stars also known as the Pleiades.
The Pleiades are seven women from the Napaljarri clan, often depicted in paintings carrying a Jampijinpa man who is in love with them. But another member of the Jakamarra group, personified by the Morning Star, is also in love with them and is usually painted chasing them across the sky.
Associated with this Dreaming of the Seven Sisters is also the star Venus—the Evening Star—who pursues the Pleiades for stealing the night from him.
