This work represents Warlawee, the ancestral kangaroo.
This animal is highly valued by the Warlpiri people, who regard it both as an important source of food and as a being of cultural significance.
Warlawee travels vast distances from his camp in search of his favourite foods: yukuri (native green vegetables) and yulkardi (desert cucumber), which grow beneath the mulga trees. These trees are frequently used by the Warlpiri for their medicinal properties.
