This work depicts Warlawee, the ancestral kangaroo. This animal is highly valued by the Warlpiri, who use it as a food source.
Warlawee travels over long distances around its camp in search of its favorite foods: “yukuri” (green vegetables) and “yulkardi” (desert cucumber), which grow beneath “mulga” trees. These trees are frequently used by the Warlpiri for their medicinal properties.
