Lorrkon are burial trunks used to collect the bones of the deceased, which are removed from the grave where they were initially buried. During this ceremony, which marks the end of mourning, the exhumed remains of the dead are painted with natural pigments—often red ochre, the color of mourning—and placed in a hollow eucalyptus trunk, which serves as an urn. The burial trunk (hollow log) is decorated with ritual and clan motifs called rarrk.
