In this painting, Milfred Spencer illustrates the Dream of the Seven Sisters, embodied by seven stars also known as the Pleiades.
The Pleiades are seven women from the Napaljarri clan, often depicted in paintings as carrying a Jampijinpa man who is in love with them. But another individual from the Jakamarra group, personified by the Morning Star, is also in love with them and is usually depicted chasing them across the sky.
Also associated with the Dream of the Seven Sisters is the star Venus - the Evening Star - who pursues the Pleiades for stealing the night from her.
