Terry Ngamandara has depicted here an emblem that is essential to the Gun-gulol Gu-rrenyjinga clans. It is the pattern used to illustrate gulach, the sharp rushes that proliferate in the Barlparnarra swamp territory. The emblem design consists of triangular patterns covering the entire bark, except for the circle in the center, which symbolizes the Barlparnarra swamp. Members of the Gun-gulol Gu-rrenyjinga clans also use it as body decoration, which they apply to the body of a deceased person during the funeral ceremony that precedes burial.
