A Western painter considered to be one of Australia's most important contemporary artists, William Robinson is best known for his landscapes of the Australian wilderness, the forests of Queensland and the coastal landscapes of New South Wales. Robinson's landscapes, with their multiple and ever-changing perspectives, generate a hallucinatory but real experience of the Australian bush, full of anxiety and fear. Here that fear is induced by a bushfire, of which Australia is unfortunately a regular victim.
