The works in the "Big Dots" series are composed around contrasting colours, with large white or black dots evoking the place occupied by indigenous populations and those born of colonisation. The dots refer to traditional Aboriginal painting, but are enlarged to show that they are distinct individualities. Konstantina reflects on the white missionary movement in Australia: "The white missionary movement in Australia 'ignored' or 'whitewashed' the beauty of Aboriginal culture and customs during the long years of colonisation. Those who were abducted, those who were moved to places that were foreign to them, those who were separated from their families and oppressed... we still feel the effects today! This dislocation of the population is Australia's greatest shame..." The blue (the sea), the green (nature) are covered by the black traces (guilt) of the white (big dots) that invaded and submerged the Gadigal territory.
