Mimih Spirit
Simone Namunjdja belongs to the new generation of Kuninjku artists who are currently enjoying particularly dynamic careers. Introduced to art at a very young age by her mother, the artist Pamela Namunjdja, she began creating her own works in 2022. She took her first steps in sculpture and painting Mimih spiritual figures, made from thin Kurrajong branches. Gradually gaining confidence, she turned to bark painting and more monumental Lorrkon sculptures.
Simone Namunjdja stands out for her black and white palette. She depicts ancestral stories passed down within her family in Maningrida, often surrounded by other artists from her community.
