Sid is an Aboriginal artist born in 1964 not far from Pormpuraaw (state of Queensland, Australia). Considered by his peers as a sage, Sid is respected both for his scholarly knowledge of the sacred legends of the various peoples of the region and for his unfailing knowledge of the local fauna and flora.

Sid Bruce Short Joe gave a speech on June 1, 2017 on the occasion of his visit to the Paris Aquarium to celebrate the opening of the exhibition "Corail: heart of life". In this moving speech, he talks about the deleterious effects of driftnets on marine life in northern Australia. Read this speech here
